Auckland Sightseeing
Traveling abroad makes you think more about what you really want in life. It’s somewhat spoiling and a tease to know the life I choose is so accessible, yet comes at a cost – the cost of stability and certainty. I’ve always loved making spontaneous decisions, with the decision to move to New Zealand with no real work prospects at any certainty.
I’ve come to know myself as someone who just works things out and turn the unknown into good experiences. Auckland sightseeing was the first thing to do in my trip. Auckland is a large city with a quarter of the countries’ population, at 1.4 million people.
Here, my purpose is to but a car and see a bit of north island before moving to the south. I ended up finding a car relatively quickly – a Hyundai i30 2011 hatchback for $9380 NZD – perfect for a get around little car and reliable. It was slightly over my budget, but it was one of the few cars at the time I had interest in.
Whilst the car is being processed and funds are pending transfers, Auckland sightseeing is on the cards. I’m not big on city sight seeing, but it can be nice. I chose to view the Winter flower gardens and the Museum.
They were both wonderful, the museum being probably the best I’ve been to. A walk around the docks was nice, mostly trying to get some nice photos of the Sky Tower, but largely being unsuccessful.
I stayed in Verandah’s Backpackers for 4 days during my stay in Auckland, which was a little out of the city centre, but close enough for walking distance. The place was well reviewed and had great facilities. I had some cool roomies and for some pretty shitty weather, a great experience!
